Firefighter's Hot over Thanksgiving Weekend
The Minor Bantam Jr. Attack Firefighter's started the weekend off cool, but finished it off hot. They are Thankful to have their full squad back and it showed during 3 Tri County League games over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Game 1 Friday night at home saw the Firefighters get out of the gate quick on 2 goals in the 1st period from Damien Sutton and Luc Chiasson. They then let off the gas and the Brampton squad scored 2 to tie it up. Noah Solinger put the Firefighters ahead after the 2nd, 3-2. Mac Kuglin made some big saves throughout the game to keep it close for his team, however the Minor Bantam squad stopped skating and allowed Brampton to carry the play for most of the period and score 3 unanswered goals and stole the win 5-3. Assists went to Kurt Long, Matthew Struthers, Noah Solinger, Jordan Lawrence (2) and Andrew Lavergne.
After the game the Minor Bantam Squad went to the Struthers Palace for a much needed Team Building Affair. Mama Anne brewed up a Thanksgiving Truth Fruit Punch which all the boys had a few glasses of during the evening and that seems to have been just what the Firefighting crew needed.

Game 2 Saturday at home saw the boys come out hard and play a solid 40 minutes of hockey. The boys skated hard, made solid passes, held the blueline and put the little black disc in the net 5 times on the night. We scored 1st and never looked back holding the lead throughout the game winning 5-2 over visiting New Hamburg. Reese Pettigrew was solid in net stopping 21 of 23 shots for the win. Nathaniel Dodd and Noah Solinger both had a good night scoring 2 each, with Kurt Long adding the other marker and a helper. Damien Sutton was solid adding 3 assists on the night, while Josh Batterman, Matthew Struthers, Jordan Lawrence and Luc Chiasson each chipped in with 1.

Game 3 Sunday, the 3rd game in 3 days saw the boys board the Attack bus and head off to Woolwich. The boys had some weary legs from the 2 hour bus ride in the 1st, but managed to keep it scoreless. Woolwich got on the board in the 2nd from a shot that came off the back boards right to a Woolwich forward standing open in front of the goal and made no mistake and put it home. However the 3rd period was a much different period. Our boys seemed to get there legs and could smell the Turkey cooking at home and simply took over the game outshooting the Woolwich Wildcats 17-2 in the 3rd frame and out scoring them 2-0 to bring home the win 2-1. Mac Kuglin wasn't as busy as he was Friday night between the pipes, however he made the saves when needed and stopped 14 of 15 shots he faced to preserve the win for the Firefighting Crew. Kurt Long and Nathaniel (Scooter) Dodd were the hot shooters on the day each scoring once, both unassisted.

I hope all families enjoy the balance of their Thanksgiving weekend and enjoy some Turkey with all the fixings as well. Thanks to all for an enjoyable, fun and a great weekend of hockey.
