Firefighters go 1-1 in Tri County Action
The boys played 4 solid periods of action this past weekend, 1 in the penalty box, and 1 playing catch up with legs a burning.

Friday night at the Bayshore saw the Minor Bantams got off to a fast, hard hitting, penalty free start and outshot Caledon 9-3 in the 1st period and after 1 the Firefighters were ahead 1-0. Unfortunately the balance of the game was not quite the same. Owen Sound gave up 21 shots in the 2nd period and were handed 12 minutes in penalties, which allowed Caledon several minutes on the power play, including a couple 5 on 3's and after 2 periods it was 3-1 Caledon.
After killing 12 minutes in penalties, the Firefighters didnt have the legs and could only exhange 3rd period goals, in a 4-2 loss. Despite the loss, netminder Reese Pettigrew played a strong game in net, allowing 4 goals on 34 shots. The moral here is, this team can compete with any Minor Bantam team out there, but in order to be successful, they need to play a complete 2 way game for all 3 periods, and keep the penalties to a minimum. Scoring for Owen Sound were Nathaniel Dodd and Andrew Lavergne. Next game for the Firefighters is Nov 15th in Woolwich.

Saturday in Woolwich at the cold Woolwich Township Arena saw the Minor Bantam Jr. Attack give a complete team effort from the Goalie out. The boys were firing on all cylinders today, and played a complete 3 period game, continuing to forecheck, backcheck throughout and popped in 5 goals. Scoring for the Jr. Attack Firefighters were Kurt Long with 2, Damien Sutton, Nathaniel Dodd, and Brady Brown. With Owen Sounds steller play today, they held Woolwich to 21 shots on goal, of which many were from outside. Mac Kuglin missed the shutout when Woolwich got one in the 3rd, but he played a very strong game between the pipes holding the Wildcats to only 1, while stopping 20. Great game Kugs....Today's game was an all around team effort and if the boys come to play like that each and every game, good things are sure to happen for this crew. Well done today boys....
