The Minor Bantam Jr. Attack Firefighter's ended the regular season this past weekend on a winning note, beating New Hamburg and Brampton, and will have to keep the momentum going as they will now head into the OMHA playoffs against 1st place Hespeler.
On Friday evening at the Bayshore, Owen Sound played New Hamburg and played a very solid game and went on to beat the visiting Huskies 7-2. Scoring for Owen Sound were the following:
Tanner Prior from Matt Lyall, Nathaniel Dodd from Matt Struthers, Brady Brown from Tanner Prior, Luc Chiasson from Jordan Lawrence and Josh Batterman, Jordan Lawrence had 2 goals, both assisted by Damien Sutton, Matt Struthers unassisted. Reese Pettigrew got the win with a solid 40 minute effort between the pipes.
The final Regular season game was played in Brampton against the Brampton 45's on Saturday. Owen Sound won this game 3-2. Scoring for Owen Sound were the following:
Nathaniel Dodd from Noah Solinger, Nathaniel Dodd from Noah Solinger and Kurt Long, Damien Sutton from Noah Solinger and Tanner Prior. Mac Kuglin didnt see a lot of rubber in the 1st half of the game, but came up big in the 3rd when the boys ran into some penalty trouble and made several key saves to preserve the win.
Owen Sound's Offense and Defense will have to be running on all 8 cylinders and the Goalies will have to be at the top of their game heading into the OMHA playoffs. After finishing the regular season in 8th place with a 10-15-3 Record, Owen Sound will now face the 1st place Hespeler Shamrocks in the best of 5 OMHA playoff series. Game 1 will be in Owen Sound on January 12th at the JMRCC West Pad, 4pm. Game 2 and 3 will be played in Hespeler Saturday Jan 19th at 9pm and Friday Jan 25th at 7pm. Games 4, 5 and 6 if needed are also scheduled for Jan 26th, Feb 1st and 4th.
