Firefighter's 1-1-1 in SilverStick
The Owen Sound Minor Bantam Firefighter's had Win Loss and a Tie this past weekend in the Regional SilverStick Tournament held in Owen Sound.

Game 1 saw Owen Sound battle with Tri County rival New Hamburg and played to a 2-2 tie. Scoring for Owen Sound was Brady Brown from Andrew Lavergne and Jordan Lawrence. Owen Sounds second goal was a TSN Top 10 Highlight of the Night goal as Matthew Struthers looked like Bobby Orr and went end to end beat all 5 New Hamburg players and the last man standing the New Hamburg tender on a beauty shot to the top shelf where they keep the Peanut Butter. Owen Sound Goalie Reese Pettigrew had a solid game stopping 15 of 17 shots and grabbed the MVP honors for the game.
Game 2 saw the Firefighters take on an unbeaten team in League play from the GTHL the Clarkson Hurricanes and had a solid team effort from the goalie out and topped Clarkson 4-1. Brady Brown was the sniper in this game scoring 2 and adding a helper. Team captain Noah Solinger had a good night as well chipping in 2 points with a goal and an assist. Matthew Lyall added the 4th Firefighter goal unassisted. Mac Kuglin was between the pipes for the win in his only performance on the weekend, and played his best game of the season stopping 17 of 18 shots. He kept his team in the game with some big saves and stood tall when Clarkson had a 2 man advantage late in period 2 to preserve the win. Nice job Kugs!!!! MVP honors went to Brady Brown.
Game 3 was heart breaker for the Firefighters. After finishing 3rd in Round Robin play Owen Sound had all day Saturday to think about the quarter final game as they didn't play until 7:30 Saturday evening. Owen Sound found out they played the team they defeated the night before 4-1 in the Clarkson Hurricanes. Spirits were high and confidence was evident. Owen sound got off to a very fast start and by the end of the 1st they had a 2-0 lead with goals from Damien Sutton and Tanner Prior. Assists went to Nathaniel Dodd, Andrew Lavergne and Matthew Lyall. Clarkson however didn't quit and came out strong in the 2nd, and finally got one past netminder Reese Pettigrew late in the 2nd. Things looked good for Firemen as the 3rd period went on, but with 50 seconds left in the game, Clarkson was able to get an odd man 3 on 1 rush and the puck found the top corner to tie the game. An exciting overtime saw scoring chances at both ends, but both goalies kept the round disc out and OT solved nothing and this game went to a shootout.
The home team could not find the back of the net on 3 shots, but Clarksons 3rd shooter was able to put it in for the win and Owen Sounds tournament was over. Reese Pettigrew played his best game of the season and stopped 30 of 32 shots during the game and made some great saves throughout the game including the OT period keeping his teams chances alive.
Clarkson went on to win the SilverStick Championship.
