Owen Sound Jr. Attack Quick Lube Novice Earn A Single
The Owen Sound Jr. Attack Quick Lube Novices had a couple of real tough battles this weekend in Georgian Bay Minor Hockey League play.

The Jr. Attack suffered their first loss of the year Friday night at the hands of the visiting Elmvale Coyotes in a hard fought 4-2 defeat. The Coyotes proved their biggest test of the year spoiling their 6 game unbeaten streak.

Elmvale came out the gate flying and scored one early that fooled the Attack net-minder five hole. The visiting Coyotes went up 3-0 through two periods of play and took a solid three goal lead  into the third.  The Attack struck first in the third with Cody Cox finding the back of the net off a nice centering pass from Ronan Helder cutting the lead to two.

The Owen Sound Novice squad was building momentum, but Elmvale shoved back regaining a three goal lead with about 4 minutes to go in the game.  With the score 4-1, the Quick Lube Jr. Attack Novice squad showed no quit notching a goal with 1:39 left to play closing the gap to 4-2. Markus Grajnar-Ptok burried the biscuit in tight with the lone assist going to Cohen Garvie.  With the goalie pulled, the Attack played hard through the final minute, but could not manage to find the back of the net.

With a day off Saturday, the Quick Lube Jr. Attack made the long trip to Penetang Sunday to play the Flames on the road and bounce back from their first loss of the season.

Both teams came out strong with great pressure. Owen Sound certainly earned more scoring chances in the first period with many beautiful passing plays and a Cody Cox ringer off the cross bar on a break away. The kids could not buy a goal and the score remained locked at 0-0 through the opening frame.

The Penetang Flames were first to light the lamp at the 5 minute mark taking an early 1-0 lead. However, two minutes later Callum Stata fed a nice pass out front to Kashias Keeshig who made no mistake locking the game at 1-1.
The hometown Flames brought some serious pressure at the end of the second frame and after four or five whacks out front, managed to take the lead with just 49 seconds remaining in the period.
The visiting Jr. Attack struck early in the third with some great pressure of their own as Chace Mertineit scored with help from Cohen Garvie and Bryce Martin.
Both teams continued the pressure and had chances, but both goaltenders stood strong closing the door and kept the score even at 2-2 resulting in a tie.

One point is better then none, and the boys and girls worked hard to earn it!

Next weekend they have a home and home vs Oro.
The first meeting is 2:30pm Saturday at the Bayshore followed by a 4:35pm tilt on the road in Oro.
