Owen Sound Novice A Jr. Attack OT Thriller as Good as a Win !!!
Your local Owen Sound Quick Lube Novice A Jr. Attack came away with that winning feeling after a thrilling 3-3 tie in Milton Sunday afternoon.

The young hockey players of the Novice Jr. Attack took to the road on Superbowl Sunday to give the Milton Winterhawks all they could handle in their final game of the OMHA playdowns.
Only one team gets to advance out of the three team pool between Owen Sound, Woolwich, and Milton. Owen Sound lost 4-2, 3-1, and 7-0 to a very strong Woolwich team, but only lost 2-1 (OT) and won 1-0 versus Milton. The plot thickens with Milton upsetting Woolwich in their first game before losing to them 9-2 in a blowout.
For Milton, a win would create a do or die final game of the first round versus Woolwich tomorrow to see who advances to the second round.
Milton flew out of the gate controlling much of the play the first half of the game and skating to a 2-0 lead after two periods. The Jr. Attack showed all playoffs they just don't quit, and battled as hard as ever finally cutting the lead in half when Bryce Martin snuck one home on a scramble at the side of the net.
The momentum was shifting as Owen Sound started to push back versus a very physical Milton squad. Only four minutes later on an odd man rush, Martin gets dumped and slides behind the play only to have a lucky bounce and a pass from Markus Ptok to Cohen Garvie, up to the open Martin who turned and fired one five hole to knot the game at two with 8:31 remaining.
The writing was on the wall for the Owen Sound comeback as Ronan Helder banged home the third unanswered goal unassisted to give the Jr. Attack a 3-2 lead with only 5:18 on the clock.
Both teams turn the dial to 10 and throw away the knobs in a relentless pursuit of victory and to win the series that stood at one game a piece.
Milton pulls the goalie, applies major pressure, and Owen Sound struggles to clear. With the clock winding down they get a glorious chance out front only to be stoned with a pad save, but pounced on the rebound going bar down with only 16 seconds remaining to tie the series rubber match at three.
Coach Rob Martin let the kids know that the Milton goal really doesn't matter, now we get to break their hearts in their own barn in overtime. We can play the spoiler with a win or a tie and send Milton out of the OMHA playoffs.
The 10 minute sudden death overtime period saw lots of action at both ends of the ice, and Myles Playter stood tall and strong helping backstop the Jr. Attack to a 3-3 tie and break the hearts of the hometown team and crowd.
They can all hold their heads high demonstrating some excellent heart, hustle, and tenacity throughout the OMHA playoffs helping prepare them for their quest for gold in the Georgian Bay Minor Hockey League playffs that begin Friday with a road game in Flesherton.
