CCM Nations Cup
The U14 Rep team went to Detroit to play in the CCM Nations Cup this past weekend.
The tournament was set up to have all games be a USA vs Canada match up. It was really fun and the boys played really well! Our team made it to the 2nd seed final game. The team stayed to cheer for Canada in the 1st seed game. It went to an 8 player shoot out, ultimately with the USA winning. Below are some highlights....
Game 1 - played the Lakeland Hawks and had a 4-2 loss. Ben Warwick and Gryphon Barber scored the goals. Michael Maloney played well in net.
Game 2 - played the Grand Rapids Griffins and had a 3-3 tie. The goals were scored by Ben Warwick, Gryphon Barber, and Paddy Shaughnessy-Watkins. Paul McKenna played well in net.
Game 3 - faced the team Compuware and had a 3-0 win! Michael Maloney got his first shut out of the year! Goals were scored by Cade Norton (a birthday goal!) that was assisted by Ben Warwick and Gryphon Barber scored 2.
Game 4 - played Buffalo Bisons for a 4-2 win! Goals were scored by Ben Warwick (2x), Alex Jarman, and Gryphon Barber (assisted by Paddy Shaughnessy-Watkins). Some big saves made by Paul McKenna.
Game 5 - played Oakland Jr Grizzlies and had a 4-2 loss. This was the second seed game (going essentially for the bronze medal). Goals were scored by Paddy Shaughnessy-Watkins and Darion Hicks. Michael Maloney played great in net.
The boys played hard and were passing the puck really well! The team also went out for a meal and played Whirlyball! It was a fabulous time across the boarder!
