A Win for Christmas
There are high crests and even deeper troughs in every season, teams you own and teams that seem to own you.   If it is true that numbers make liars and liars make numbers then Burlington Eagles who are the number 2 team in the league were beaten soundly by the number 10 team in the league by a score of 5 to 1 on Friday night.

The number two being, again, significant as Owen Sound has beaten Burlington twice in two games this season.  The truth, it would appear, is yet to be determined when predicting how Owen Sound will place once the final whistle blows to end the team’s major peewee season.

Owen Sound played a physical yet disciplined game from start to finish allowing only 2 power play opportunities for Burlington and only one goal in the third period.   Matt Lyall led the way with a hat trick, Brady Brown scored 1 goal added 2 helpers, while Tanner Prior scored once.  2 assists went to Kurt Long and Andrew Laverne also added a helper.  Reese Pettigrew was strong between the pipes just missing the shut out allowing 1 goal off the odd man rush while stopping 22 shots.

Let’s see if Owen Sound can take the winning formula into Niagara on the Lake this week.  Play physical, stay out of the box, keep the shots against low, make key saves and take advantage of scoring opportunities generated by hard work and speed.  Make the New Year’s weekend as happy as the Christmas weekend was.  Go Attack!
