Classic Hockey Weekend
The Fall Classic was not kind to the home town Owen Sound Major Peewees. The boys started out tough when they faced off against the eventual tournament winner in the opening game. Owen Sound couldn’t beat the Waterloo goalie and lost 5 0 to the fast skating squad.

Game 2 was played against an evenly matched Strathroy team. Despite a strong performance the team fell just short losing 3 2. Goals were scored by Noah Rouse and Matt Lyall. After a good rest on Friday night Owen Sound convincingly beat Pelham 4 0 on Saturday morning. Matt Lyall was a scoring machine in the game. He registered a hat trick and set up the fourth goal on an accurate cross ice pass to Jordan Lawrence who made no mistake putting the puck behind the Pelham goalie. The team seemed to be spurred on to the win by the new look of Coach Jeff who shaved off his beard for some inspiration! This win earned them a spot in the semis against Waterloo who went unbeaten in the tourney. Once again the speed and aggressive play of Waterloo was too much for the home team as the Wolves jumped quickly to a 4 0 lead after 10 minutes of play. The boys found their legs after the intermission and kept Waterloo from scoring any more goals in the 2nd and 3rd period, however they were unable to score themselves. The weekend ended with some social time for the boys when they attended the Attack game on Saturday night. Unfortunately, the OHL Attack met the same fate as the Peewees losing to Kitchener.
