Jr Attack Claw back to beat Warriors
After a tough weekend tournament in Ayton, the Bayshore Skate Sharpening Jr Attack Peewee`s bounced back to beat the West Grey Warriors 2 in WOAA Action at the JMRRC in Owen Sound.

The weekend began on a rough note for the Peewee team as they traveled to Ayton to not only participate in their first tournament as a team; but also to face some of their league rivals for the very first time.

Our Owen Sound Jr Attack crew is really getting their first taste of the Local League action, and is starting to recognize the level of compete it takes to skate with their opponents.

Although the team battled hard in tournament action, they feel to defeat against a fast skating Hagersville Team, as well as a tough checking Hanover team.

The best take away for the entire team was the recognition of where our game needs to improve to better prepare for League play.

Even while facing stiff competition this Peewee team did not for one second give up.  Down by several goals they played just as hard right down to the final buzzer.

This gives the Coaches, Trainers and Managers much to smile about.  We can continue to work on developing skills, but it is harder to build heart and character.  It was very obvious to all that watched, that this team has TONNES of heart and character!

So, on Sunday afternoon this squad returned home to Owen Sound to take on the West Grey Warriors #2 in their first match-up.

The Warriors were coming into town with a daunting 5-1-1 record and with already 7 tough games under their belt.  But the Jr. Attack felt they had much to prove.

These teams seemed very well matched on the ice, and both teams saw end to end action.

Our Bayshore Skate Sharpening crew seemed to find their stride and began moving the puck very well to their line mates.

This was not going to be an easy contest as both goal tenders continued to face a barrage of shots, but both standing very tall.

The first and second periods ended with both teams having great offensive chances, but neither were able to tally on the score board.

Going into the third, Owen Sound recognized that their game plan was working out.  The defensive efforts they were putting in, were leading to offensive chances at the other end.

It wasn't until 12:29 of the third period when Geoffrey Webster found Ethan Cunningham coming across center ice.  Ethan made no mistake on his challenge to the net putting Owen Sound up 1-0.

Realizing that there was still plenty of time left, and not wanting to give the Warriors room to breath...the Jr Attack continued to pressure.

Late in the third; just as in the two periods before; Scott Lumley was called on to make a breakaway save.  With lots of pressure from the side, Scott slid to the side to make a great save on the attempted deke, but as the puck squirted loose to the center of the net, he dove back across the crease to make another great save!

This gave the team all the confidence they needed to finish this one off.

In the dying minutes of the third, our newest Attacker, Callum Stata broke free coming out of the Owen Sound end.  As he had done several times today, Callum was able to find some space to carry the puck up the length of the ice.  Callum got in on top of the goaltender who made a GREAT save, but his awaiting centre; Geoffrey Webster was right there with him the whole time waiting to bang the rebound home.

This would put the Jr. Attack up 2-0 with only a minute to go.

Owen Sound continued to provide great defensive support in their own end and were able to skate away with the 2-0 win over a great skating West Grey Warriors #2 Team.

The Bayshore Skate Sharpening Jr Attack are next in action Saturday November 19th at 2:30 at the Bayshore, as they take on the First Place Hanover Falcons #2
