Power Outage as Team falls to Ice Dogs
The Nightmare of 77...

For many of our Bayshore Skate Sharpening Peewee's, it was our first opportunity to play in a rink outside of Owen Sound...however upon our arrival in Tara, our game was rescheduled to Chesley...2 Rinks in 1 day!

The excitement of our first road trip was short lived, as we took the ice against a team that was unbeaten, and certain to give us a challenge.

Owen Sound took to the ice looking to shake off any lingering nerves, but was not able to find their game this day.

A very fast and solid first period saw Owen Sound back on their heels, forced to play some solid defense in their own end.  The veteran presence on Owen Sounds back end was able to hold the fort.  However, our Peewee's had their hands full against a solid puck moving offensive attack.

It wasn't until 7:40 of the first period when Owen Sound got their first sight of their nemesis of the day.  A solid-skating, stick handling opponent soon to be known only as "77" found the back of the net to put the Ice Dogs up 1-0.

Owen Sound continued to fight back.  The Peewee's regrouped and tried to assemble an attack.  At 13:58 on a clearing attempt from Wyatt Dobratz, Brighton McGregor was able to get the puck to Logan Black who was streaking up the middle of the ice.  Logan made a great move to break loose of the two defenders, and was able to make one last move on the waiting tender to pull the Jr. Attack back to even.  But this would be all of the offense this crew could muster for the day.

The period ended much the same way as it began...with Owen Sound working hard to stave of the attack.

In the second period, Owen Sound was under a barrage of pucks, as Scotty Lumley did his absolute best to keep this game within reach.  Stopping several break-aways and key timely saves, it was not yet out of reach.

Wyatt Dobratz, Matt Molinki, Lucas Harwood, and Bennett Lines did everything they could up the middle, and worked hard to keep the puck out of our end; they had not seen anything like this since the Montreal Canadiens drubbing of 10-0

The Ice Dog attack was persistent...it was going to be one of those days.  At 9:55 and 15:00 of the second, it was like deja-vu, as 77 again lugged the puck up the sideboards single-handedly to streak in and score; ending the second period 3-1.

Owen Sound headed to the dressing room before the start of the third.  It was obvious what needed to be done, but question seeped in as to whether they could do it today.

The Third Period was to be much like the first two.  Owen Sound continued to get caught on their heels and really had to work to clear their zone.  Frustration must have peaked as our crew battled right to the end.
Much like the periods before, Owen Sound was to witness to the by now infamous "77" add two more unassisted tallies to the board.

The Bayshore Skate Sharpening Jr. Attack was not to be victorious this day.  However, what was obvious from this game was their to-do list going forward.
The team certainly paid the price for not having had more competition to this point in the season, but many lessons learned will better help us prepare for our next competition.

The final score was 6-1 for the Ice Dogs.

The Bayshore Skate Sharpening Jr. Attack are next in action
