Major Bantams finish Regular Season Strong
The Gaviller & Company Major Bantams captured 3 of 4 points this past weekend

The Accounting crew outshot their opponent the Caledon Hawks at home Saturday 30-15 and came out with a single point. They played a very good 2 way game here today and Owen Sound Goalie Jack Armstrong held his ground and played very well as he stopped 14 of 15 to preserve the tie. The Caledon Goalie made a couple of "Holy Mackinaw" saves which saved the single point for the Hawks. Andrew Vardy potted the only marker on the day assisted by Jordan Lawrence. Vardy was stopped late in the 2nd period from point blank range by the big left hand of the Caledon Goaltender which could have sealed the game for Owen Sound. If I was a Police Officer I would have arrested the Caledon Goalie for Highway Robbery on that save....what a save. Owen Sound carried the play for the most part, and did manage a point but as the saying goes, they deserved a much better result on this day but will certainly take the single point. Woolwich beat Brampton on Saturday night as well, which put them 1 point ahead of the Owen Sound squad.

On Sunday evening the boys needed a huge game from everyone to gain 2 points against the 3rd place Oakville Blue squad to regain 6th place. Owen Sound was playing short handed as they were missing a winger and a D-man, and 2 others during the game were not feeling the greatest. The boys played a great 2 way game and killed off a couple of long penalties during the game. Goalie Reese Pettigrew played a solid game between the pipes for the Jr. Attack stopping 24 of 25 Oakville shots and kept his team in the game and posted the 3-1 win.  Noah Rouse a rugged forward (for this game anyway) scored the 1st goal as he skated down the wing like a freight train, went hard to the net, took a pass from Scooter Dodd right on the tape, and put it home for a 1-0 lead. Larsen Lorenz added the other assist. After being robbed the night before Andrew Vardy flew down the ice on a solo rush after taking a great pass from Quinton Maddock, and took a snap shot from the top of the circle which hit the twine, and I think the Oakville goalie is still looking for the puck which made it 2-0.  Oakville made it close late in the 2nd, but Tayan (T-Mac) MacMillan sealed the victory late in the 3rd on a beauty of his own. Owen Sound beat the Oakville Blue sqaud in their own barn and took over 6th place for the moment. Now it is up to the Hockey Gods and the Brampton 45's to tie or beat Woolwich on Wednesday to seal 6th.

Great season boys and a great weekend of play to end the Regular Season. Hard work, determination, great goaltending and a solid 2 way game is needed to be successful. You have shown this several times this season and especially the past 2 weekends. Now lets keep this type of play and effort going moving forward into Playoffs and good things are sure to happen. You can do it!!!!!!
