Minor Midget has GREAT showing at Silver Stick!
Last fall the Owen Sound Hyundai Minor Midgets qualified to play in the International Silver Stick Tournament held in Newmarket Ontario.

Twelve Minor Midget teams qualified for the tournament. The teams were divided into 4 divisions.

There were 4 games in round robin play:

Friday January 17th
Vaughan Rangers shut out Owen Sound 1-0. A tough start to the tournament.

The second game on Friday Owen Sound defeated the Newmarket Redman 2-1. We were down 1-0 early to fight back with 2 goals to win the game.

Saturday January 18th
Owen Sound won 4-3 against Tampa Elite from Florida. This was a great game where we would score then they would tie the game. Then we would score and they would score to tie. It went like that right to the very end.

The final round robin game Owen Sound defeated the Richmond Royals from Virginia USA, 8-1.

That placed Owen Sound first in their division. They advanced to the quarter finals. That was also played on the third game that day. Owen Sound beat the Arapahoe Warriors from Denver Colorado 2-0 with Ethan Woods getting the shut-out.

Owen Sound advanced to the semi finals which were held on Sunday morning. They played the Quinte West Hawks. Quinte is rated as the No. 1 Minor Midget team in Ontario. Owen Sound scored early and advanced to have a 4-2 lead half way through the 2nd period. But Quinte did not give up and fought back to win 5-4.

It was a great weekend and an experience we trust the kids will remember for many years to come.
