An Open Letter From
Optimist Club of Sydenham District
I am the President of the Optimist Club of Sydenham and District and I am contacting you regarding an upcoming Youth Mental Health Event that we are sponsoring.
On October 31, 2021, Kaleb Dahlgren, Humboldt Bronco bus tragedy survivor and author, will be speaking in our community about resilience and the importance for youth to discuss mental health issues.
We are hoping that youth age 12 and up will attend this event. Our club believes Kaleb has an important message to share and that all youth will benefit from hearing him speak, especially those involved in sports. Our club would greatly
appreciate if you would distribute our flyer (
CLICK HERE) to your members and post it on your organization’s website and social media.
The Owen Sound and District Junior Optimists have made a generous donation to our club so that youth may attend this event for free. Please let us know if any of your members would like to attend this event but the cost of the tickets is a
barrier and our club will provide two free tickets to each youth, on a first come first serve basis.
Any profits from this event will be donated to youth mental health resources in our community - Canadian Mental Health Association, for youth programming, and WES for Youth, a youth counselling service.
Please note, that as per the provincial regulations, all attendees over age 12 will need to show proof of being fully vaccinated and all youth under age 12 need to be accompanied by a fully vaccinated adult. Proof of vaccination includes the second vaccination receipt, prior to October 17, 2021, plus photo ID.
Sincerely,
Katie Holovaci,
