Atom Minor, 2013-14 (Owen Sound Minor Hockey Group)

The Brian Pickett Ride Centre Minor Atoms capped of their season last night with a 3-1 win over the Midland Centennials to capture the GBMHL Atom C Championship.

After a fantastic quarter final showing in their OMHA playoff run, the Atom Minor junior Attack continue their winning ways with tonights lastest 3-0 victory over the somewhat aggressive Flesherton golden Hawks. Goaltenders were hot at both ends of the ice with Noah Hemstock earning the shutout for the Attack. Scoring was initiated by Owen Prior and assisted by Tyson Morrison and Sam Barrett. 2nd period saw a marker by Curtis Arnold and assisted by Jesse Walker. The game would find our Minor Atom group in deep do do at 3-1 after 2 periods. The lone marker submitted readily by our own Cole Gowan. Our comeback journey begins with back to back goals from Curtis Arnold (assist by Eric Barnard) and Sammy Barrett. Duped again to a 4-3 score our comeback search resumed. To the rescue in fine fachion came the equilizer off the stick of Eric Barnard and assisted beautifully by Curtis Arnold.

A 3-2 win against the Oakville Rangers secures a spot in the second round for the Minor Atom Brian Pickett Ride Centre Junior Attack. It was a very close tilt until Landen Humphries being left unattended, snapped in a rebound off a shot from Cole Gowan. The score remained tied at 1-1 forever when a sweet pass from Curtis Arnold and Sam Barrett landed on the stick of Eric Barnard who swiftly placed the puck in the back of the net. Holy Mackinaw!! After finishing the OMHA playdown with a huge 5-1 win over Brampton tonight, the Atom Minors are tied for 1st with the Oakville Rangers. We welcome the tiebreaker game in Oakville tomorrow with much anticipation. Tonights game saw goals from Cole Gowan(2), Eric Barnard, Elliot Thomson, and Tyson Morrison. Helpers were from Sam Barrett, Curtis Arnold, Cole Gowan, Calder Adams, Landen Humphries, Owen Prior and Carter Moran.
