Major Atoms Split a Pair
The Leeder and Associates Major Atoms split their games this weekend against Penetang and Midland

Saturday saw the Major Atoms face the Penetang Flames at the Bayshore in their second meeting of the season. The boys seemed to come out a little flat but picked it up a bit in the second. Kieran Moore started the scoring with a nice touch past the goalie after one of his patented rushes to the net. Drayton Howell added a second with a hard wrist shot that fought its way through the goalie. A few penalties added to the fun but the boys killed them off and went on to add a third from Austin Barnard who used the whole net to get it right. A great defensive effort once again and some stellar play between the pipes from Carter Garvie handed Penetang a goose egg...Final score 3-0

Sunday saw the Midland Centennials visit the boys at the rec centre. Bringing a 22-1 record with 156 goals scored, we knew the boys were going to be put to the test. The boys skated with Midland for the first and seemed to put a lot of pressure on their D especially the 3rd line of Jayden Remenda, Landon and Mason G who had a great first period. The game got off to a late start as we were without a referee but that did not deter them from testing their whistles once they took to the ice, as the penalties started to pile up and the boys found themselves down 5 on 3 once again. The fast skating Midland team took full advantage scoring two goals putting us down 2-0. Another power play goal in the 3rd made it 3-0. Kieran Moore once again would not be denied and undressed the goalie for the single tally. This brought some new life to the team and we had some good chances but couldn't find the net. The boys showed they can play with these guys but just need to stay out of jail. Despite the 3 goals allowed Carter was once again very solid and is cleaning up those loose pucks.
