That's a wrap - U11 Season of Success and Growth
The U11 Owen Sound Jr Attack have wrapped up their 2023/2024 season, with an undefeated regular season, three tournaments and an excellent Division A playoff showing. Head Coach Johnny Solazzo conveys, "we had an excellent regular season with a 22-0-4 record. I feel we competed extremely well in playoffs with moving up to the ‘A’ Division.  I can honestly say I was very nervous going into our first playoff game against the 2nd place team, but the team impressed me with their effort and how well each of them played. I am very proud of every single player and honoured to have been the Head Coach of the U11 Jr Attack. Thank you for an awesome season."

Throughout the year, the U11 team has been supported by a strong coaching staff, which includes U16 Owen Sound Jr Attack defence Tristan Gilkinson. U11 Head Coach Johnny Solazzo gives his insights, "Tristan has been coaching with me for three years now. I think it’s fantastic that older players love to give back to OSMH by helping with the younger teams.  Tristan is very passionate about the game and extremely committed to our team." Coach Johnny goes on to express, "...(Tristan) would show up to every practice and to many away games if it worked around his own hockey schedule. I know our kids love having him help with the team and us coaches enjoy it as well." U11 center Owen Elliott relays, "he shows us how to improve our playing- if he catches an area to improve on, during a practice drill. He also goofs around with us and makes us skate hard." Tristan's U16 Head Coach, Tim Millman, weighs in and notes, "as his coach, I would describe Tristan as enthusiastic, committed and dependable. He possesses a strong work ethic, he's a team player and he's very coachable. There is a saying that we communicate all the time to our players, 'practice the way you need to play a game.' Tristan is a perfect example of this. He practices every drill and plays every shift like it is his last one! Tristan's giving of his personal time as an on-ice assistant with the U11 team, throughout this past season, says much of his character." The U11 team have had a great season, in part due to the dedication, direction and examples of sportsmanship from their assistant coach, Tristan Gilkinson.
