REP - Atom AE - Atom AE Jr Attack Get The Win!!
Submitted By Todd McGregor on Tuesday, October 30, 2018
On Sunday October 28th, the Locking Business Furniture Atom AE team skated to a nail biting 6-5 final for their first win of the season.

As one parent put it, "You paid for your whole seat, but only needed the edge" in this amazing battle against the home town Shelburne Wolves.

What seemed to some as a "monkey on the back" of this hard working team; it was time to shed the weight and prove to themselves it could be done.

Coming off a hard fought battle against the league leading Essa Eagles on Saturday, the Atom AE were determined that their continued efforts and focus were bound to pay off.

Owen Sound came out flying in the first, dominating puck possession and throwing everything they had at the Shelburne Goaltender.  With the period ending in a 0-0 tie, the Jr Attack had out shot the Wolves 15-2.  It only seemed like a matter of time before the efforts were to be rewarded.

However as often seen, when one team is so dominant and not rewarded... the Wolves took advantage of a turnover in the Owen Sound end early in the second to take the lead 1-0.

As this Jr Attack team has learned, resilience, determination and hard work is the only way forward.
Owen Sound regrouped and continued with their game plan, and were rewarded shortly after to tie the affair at one.

Never letting up, the Attack continued with their assault and soon took the lead in the second period.
As goals were traded back and forth, Owen Sound never backed down.
These boys deserved the two points on this day...but would they get it?

Up by a goal midway through the 3rd, the Attack continued to pressure.  However, after a couple of miscues in the offensive zone, the Wolves skated back and managed to score 2 quick goals to take the lead with just over a minute left on the clock.  Could this be happening??

Disappointed but not yet defeated, and with 49 seconds left the Owen Sound net is empty.  An amazing effort results in an end to end rush to tie this match with only 9.2 seconds left on the clock!
A tie?  Maybe....but this Jr. Attack team was not done yet...

With a face off win at centre, a puck caught in the skates of not one, but two Owen Sound Players; resulted in a puck kicked ahead. It was a break-away with only seconds to spare.
It was one on one, against a Goaltender who could easily be a candidate for First Star in this match, Owen Sound charges for the net, wingers in line....the puck is shot and beats the Wolves waiting goalie right over the glove hand!
The puck hits the net, the buzzer sounds and the Owen Sound Jr Attack score to take the lead with no time left on the clock!

In UNBELIEVABLE fashion, this relentless determined team has shown themselves what it takes to win!
This team never gives up regardless of the outcome.
They have finally proven to themselves that they too deserve to win!

In what the coaching staff reflects on an amazing team effort, it is exciting to see what is ahead for this tenacious group of kids!

Attack WIN 6-5.
