Tykes can’t weather the Storm
A promising start wasn’t enough to fend off the Dundalk Novice Rep Storm as the Owen Sound Jr. Attack Canadian Tire Tykes fell 15-1 in Georgian Bay Minor Hockey League action on Friday night at the Bayshore Community Centre.

Hunter Stewart, with his third goal of the season, opened the scoring for Owen Sound with a dazzling solo effort 4:05 into the first period. Using his bursting speed through the neutral zone, Stewart was able to break through Dundalk’s stingy defence before snapping a perfectly placed shot high over the Storm goaltender’s outstretched pad.

However, once the visiting Storm found their legs – striking twice within a span of 24 seconds - the Tykes couldn’t find an answer for Dundalk’s unrelenting attack for the remainder of the contest.

Dundalk went 2 for 2 with the man advantage while Owen Sound was held scoreless on its lone power play opportunity.

Goaltender Ryan Cooke earned the Hardest Working Player of the Game hard hat for the Tykes.

The Tykes next host the Creemore Novice Rep Valley Hawks at the Julie McArthur Regional Recreation Centre on Sunday. Game time is 4 p.m.
