OSMHG to enter Local League as 1 year trial
As everyone is aware we sent a survey out to all members of the Owen Sound Minor Hockey Organization requesting their input as we continue to battle reductions in registration numbers. Over the past 5 years we have noticed a steady decline in the registration numbers to our program,  and now we have reached the point that providing a functional In-house House League is not possible (given the projected registration numbers for the 2016-17 season).

Response to the survey showed that the majority of our members (the ones that replied) would be in favour of altering our current format to a Local league as opposed to an In-house House league.

As a result of the survey,  for the 2016-17 season our organization will be entering into a Local League format for the Novice, Atom, Pee-Wee, Bantam and Midget Programs.  Our organization has applied to both the WOAA and the Georgian Bay programs and we will have a more definitive answer as to which program our participants will be participating in by early September.

The parameters in which a Local League program operates are different from our traditional In-House House League and our association is currently preparing for the alterations to the format.  Items such as Ice Allocations, Practices, Team and Bench Staff are all items that will need to be altered as we enter into this new era!

We will have additional information for all members of the program in Late August.

As an organization we would like to thank all of our members for your continued support as we continue to evolve our programs and continue to build the OSMHG brand and programs.

Crescent Athletic Club
The Crescent Athletic Club of Owen Sound, Ontario was envisioned and founded in 1920 by like-minded sportsmen as a viable way to bind interests, commitments and the continuance of minor sports teams in the community. Historically a not-for-profit men's organization with the aim to support local athletic teams. Today the club functions in much the same way it was originally fashioned. A place for members to meet and greet in the club rooms for drinks, camaraderie and some gifted gab. Club banquets and sports events like golf, darts and curling tournaments generate proceeds to help keep the club running and to raise donation funds for minor sports teams in Owen Sound when it is possible to do so. 2022 was a historic year as the Crescent Athletic Club celebrated 102 years.
