With the various positions available, each role comes with a different set of training and documentations requirements. So, in our attempt to streamline and consolidate the process, we are providing a quick summary below of the requirements and necessary links to find what you need to get it done quickly. COACH (HEAD AND ASSISTANT)
Head Coaches are selected by the Coaching Selection Committee appointed by the Executive.
Coaches are responsible for:
- Representing the Organization: Serving as a representative of the OSMHG team and upholding its values, principles, and reputation within the community and beyond.
- Player Development: Planning and executing practices to develop players' skills, techniques, and overall performance in alignment with OSMHG development pathways.
- Player Evaluation: Assessing player abilities and progress throughout the season to make informed decisions about practice planning, areas of focus and development pathways.
- Communication: Effectively communication with players, parents, assistant coaches, and team officials regarding schedules, expectations, and progress.
- Staff Management: The delegation of responsibilities to the Assistant Coach and Team Manager.
- Collaboration: Collaborating with assistant coaches, team officials, and other stakeholders to support the team's goals and objectives.
- Team Management: Managing team dynamics, fostering teamwork, and ensuring a positive and respectful environment.
- Player Support: Providing guidance, support, and mentorship to players, both on and off the ice.
- Adherence to Policies: Ensuring compliance with OMHA and OSMHG rules, regulations, and guidelines, including safety protocols and fair play standards.

MANAGER
Team managers are responsible for overall communication, parent meetings, team budgets and work in combination with coaches to manage all aspects of the team.

TRAINER
A trainer is responsible for the overall health of the team. Specifically, handling on/off ice injuries and following concussion protocols. Hockey Trainers implement effective risk management on their own teams (and others when needed) , where safety is the first priority at all times, both on and off the ice.

An on-ice volunteerfor Owen Sound Minor Hockey assists coaches during practices and clinics; providing support with drills, player supervision, and skill development activities.

HOW TO APPLY
- Submit your notice of interest by emailing the Director of Coach and Player Development.
A referee is responsible for enforcing the rules as outlined in the Hockey Canada rulebook.

A timekeeper is responsible for the scoreboard, penalty box, game sheet and acting as off-ice officials representing Owen Sound Minor Hockey.
REQUIREMENTS
- 13 years of age as of August 31 - No Exceptions
- Complete an Association Training Certification Program
HOW TO APPLY
- Registration is currently closed, but will re-open the Summer of 2024
EXECUTIVE
The Executive drives the overall direction of the Association and upholds the Constitution, By-Laws, Rules, Regulations and Guidelines of the organization.
REQUIREMENTS
- For President, must be a current active Executive Board Member
- For Vice-Presidents, must be a current active Executive Board Member
- For Treasurer, Registrar, Secretary, must be current active Executive Board Members
- For Directors, need to reside within the Owen Sound Minor Hockey catchment area

- Apply to the Nomination Committee and voted on at the Annual General Meeting held in April.
