The Booy's Action Auto Jr Attack Minor Atom players showed over the weekend that they can play with some of the top Minor Atom teams in the province. With two ties, a loss and a win, they put themselves through to the semi-finals of the Richard Bell Memorial tournament in Oakville December 27-29th.
They started with a 0-0 tie against Oakville Red and ended the first day with an 8-4 loss to Welland. Goal scorers were Kirk Ortman, Wyatt Fry and Josh Rayner (2). Assists from Fry, Christian Sinclair and Barron Sanford.
Day two started with another tough tie with 3 goals each versus Oakville Blue. Goal scorers were Fry (2) and Rayner with assists to Darren Jacques and Sinclair. The boys then showed their determination with a decisive win against Stoney Creek 8-3. Rayner posted 4 goals to the scoreboard, Fry (2), while Brayden Power (first goal of the season), and Andrew Carmichael posted one each. Assists to Sinclair, Power (2), Rayner, Carmichael and Kaden Zoldy.
The boys fell short in a tough game to the undefeated Grimsby Kings 2-0 in the semi-final match up, but showed that they are ready for the upcoming OMHA playdowns!
It was a great holiday tournament for the boys with definite growth and skill development on the ice to boost their confidence and a couple birthday celebrations thrown in the mix!
