Minor peewees start semis at home on Feb. 27
The Owen Sound Garb and Gear Junior Attack minor peewees open their Ontario Minor Hockey Association Playdowns semifinal series against the Essex Ravens with two games at home on Feb. 27 and 28.

The puck drops for Saturday's game at 2:30 p.m. at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.
Game 2 of the series goes Sunday at 2:15 p.m. at the Lumley-Bayshore.
Owen Sound advanced to the semifinals after a thrilling Game 5 win in Burlington on Saturday.
The Junior Attack came out flying from the puck drop and took the early lead on a goal by Carter Moran on a feed from Tyson Morrison.
Burlington answered right back to tie the game at 1-1, but a shorthanded marker by Curtis Arnold a few minutes later gave Owen Sound the momentum back.
Unrelenting pressure by the Junior Attack in the second led to a power-play, and Owen Sound made them pay when Owen Prior potted one to make it 3-1.
Less than a minute later, Owen Sound put another up on the board when Landen Humphries scored after taking a long stretch pass from Elliot Thomson.
It was Curtis Arnold again just a couple minutes later when he scored on a feed from Owen Prior to make it 5-1 after two periods.
Burlington would make it 5-2 early in the third, but that was as close as they would get as Owen Sound worked down the clock.
Jacob Duncan scored one late for Owen Sound to make it 6-2 and Burlington would answer back with their goalie pulled, but it was too little too late as the Junior Attack cruised to the 6-3 win.
The entire team put in their best efforts in this one to pull off the win, including forwards Owen Prior, Curtis Arnold, Carter Moran, Landen Humphries, Tyson Morrison, Cole Gowan, Jacob Duncan, Elliot Thomson and Hunter McMillan, defencemen Jacob Thornley, Calder Adams, Jesse Walker and Tyson Downs, and goalie Noah Hemstock.
Kudos to the coaching staff of Chris Downs, Murray Prior, Steve Arnold and Jeff Morrison and team manager Jennifer Morrison.
And once again the friends and family in the stands were loud and proud.
After the games this weekend in Owen Sound, the peewees will hit the road on March 4 for Game 3 of the series at 7 p.m. in Essex.
Game 4, if necessary, will be on March 5 at noon in Essex, while if a Game 5 is needed the teams will return to Owen Sound on March 6. That game is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Lumley-Bayshore.
