Owen Sound Quik Lube Tyke MD Jr Attack Win Georgian Bay League Novice “C”                                           Consolation Championship

The Owen Sound Quik Lube Tyke MD Jr Attack finished the season with a big 6-5 win Tuesday night over the Creemore Valley Hawks.  

In the final 3/5 series home ice was in Owen Sound’s favour. In game one Creemore came to Owen Sound and escaped with a 5-3 victory.  The next day Owen Sound travelled to Creemore for game but once again Creemore was victorious.  This time the score was 5-4.  The Attack were down 2-0 in the series when game three took place in Owen Sound.  This time Owen Sound was ready and the Tyke MD squad skated to a convincing 6-1 win.  The Attack were back in it!  In game four Owen Sound faced elimination again and tensions were high before the game.  The game ended in a 3-2 Attack victory forcing game 5 back in Owen Sound.  Game five was Tuesday March 22 at the Julie McArthur Recreational Centre in Owen Sound and home ice advantage paid off. The arena was packed with hockey fans of all ages cheering on the Jr Attack.  The Owen Sound Jr Attack went up 1-0 on the first shift.  Creemore came right back and scored on the second shift of the game and eventually went up 2-1.  Owen Sound tied it up at 2-2 at the 11minute mark of the second period and then stormed to a 6-2 lead.  Creemore did not go away easily.  Creemore scored 3 goals in the third period to get it to 6-5 with 46seconds left.  After Creemore’s fifth goal Owen Sound won the faceoff and was able to keep the puck in Creemore’s end for the final moments preserving the 6-5 win and the championship!  The Owen Sound Quik Lube Tyke MD Jr Attack won the Bradford Bulldogs Tournament earlier in the season as well.  This team has played 43 games this season and practiced twice a week since the beginning of September.  Their improvement was truly on display in this series.
