Tri County Champions
The Owen Sound Hyundai Minor Midget Jr. Attack ended up Tri County Champions this past weekend.
After defeating the Brampton 45's, 7 points to 1 in the Semi Finals they went onto play the Halton Hills Thunder in the best of 3 Final.
Owen Sound took game 1 in Halton Hills Friday by a score of 3-0. Goal scorers were Braeden Elliott, Griffin Boyd and Nathaniel Dodd. Jack Armstrong posted the win and shutout between the pipes for Owen Sound squad
Owen Sound came out fired up in game 2, as they did not want to travel back to Halton Hills the following day for game 3 and took it to the Thunder winning game 2 with authority 6-1. Scoring for Owen Sound were Braeden Elliott (2), Tayan MacMillan, Kurt Long, Jordan Lawrence and Nathaniel Dodd. Reese Pettigrew got the win between the pipes.
The season itself did not quite go the way the Hyundai squad, coaches and parents had hoped, however in the end the boys came together when it counted and pulled out a Tri County Championship which is something to be very proud of and can never be taken away from this group.
From my perspective, there are only 2 champions crowned each year in the OMHA Minor Midget group. You either win an OMHA Championship, or you win your League Championship. In either case you are a Champion, and that is what these boys are. No disputing that!!! Not many can ever say they were a Tri County Champion, however these boys can.
Very well done fellas, very proud of all of you. It was a pleasure being your manager this season, and I wish you all the best.
