During a break in their schedule during the Owen Sound Early Bird tournament, the Gaviller & Company Major Bantam Junior Attack players, coaches & staff and families toured the Salvation Army food bank.

The team has supported helping the food bank through collecting cash donations at the Attack games and thought they would take the opportunity to see how the program operated.  During the tour it became quite evident how important the program was to the Owen Sound community.  It was also shocking to see how empty the shelves were.

The team decided to create their own food drive and set out over the next week to collect many of the items the program was in dire need of.  Five Hundred and Fifty pounds of food was collected and donated during 10 days.  Pictured below is the salvation army picking up the donations before one of the Jr. Attack games.

Great Job Team!

Alice Wannan from the Salvation Army posted on their Facebook page:
"Wow!! Met these kids a few weeks ago - we did a tour at the food bank. They couldn't believe how low in food we were and wanted to help! AND HELP THEY DID!!! Last night we picked up 551 lbs from these kids and their families who just want to make a difference in their community!!  Great job you guys! Our shelves are fuller today because of YOU!!!"
