Tournament Recap from Chris Knott Memorial Tournament in Port Elgin
The OS Jr. Attack Atom Super Selects headed west down highway 21 to Port Elgin for the Chris Knott Memorial tournament this past weekend.  They were looking to build upon a strong 2-2 showing at the Georgian Shores Tournament in October.  First up for the Selects was a team they had shutout in Meaford.

Tournament RecapFrom Chris Knott Memorial Tournament in Port Elgin

Game 1 vs Kincardine Kinucks Atom AE

The team started its 2nd tournament of the season against a known foe.  A well fought contest with a great defensive effort from Connor McManaman, Jayden Todd, and Tyler Kellough kept the Kinucks at bay.  Strong backchecking from the forwards including Tyson Cunningham, Devon Long, Quinton Rodgers and Nate Cook led to a 4-3 victory.

Game 2 vs Erin Hillsburgh Devils Atom AE

The 2nd game was a defensive battle with superb goaltending from Jamie Nicoll and Connor Mill.  Everyone contributed in this game with strong efforts from Ben Duwyn, Ryan Majury and Brodie Aberdein.  The extra attacker was out for the final minute of the 3rd period but the Devils goalie stood tall.  2-1 Erin Hillsburgh.

Game 3 vs Saugeen Shores Storm AE

In game 3, the Super Selects had to pull off a victory to move on to Sunday.  It was a penalty filled affair but the strong penalty killing of Colin Nicol and Tyler Moore kept the Saugeen Shores Storm from brewing up any offence on the powerplay.  Once again a great checking effort was put in by all.  On offense many discovered the effectiveness of the pass.  Several passes resulted in quick transitions through the neutral zone and scoring opportunities.  A few great passes came from Foster Tannahill, James Millson, Dylan Phillips and Taelum Wilkie.  Unfortunately, time was against us and lost 5-3.

Of note, the coaching staff was thrilled with the strides the players are making.  Everyone continues to improve upon their last performance.  Keep pushing ahead.
