TEAM WORK leads the McDonald's Jr. Attack Novice Select kids to a 3-0 win!!!
A little bit of snow did not stop the Erin-Hillsburgh Select team from making the 2 hour drive to Owen Sound this evening. With the Erin team chanting "we're red, we're white, we're dynamite" before hitting the ice, they definitely lived up to their chant. This team hit the ice with confidence, skated hard and pushed the Owen Sound Jr. Attack McDonald's Select kids to work even harder but more importantly to work as a team - and our Attack did just that!
The last 5 minutes in the 1st period was a flurry of skates and sticks as the kids did their best to get on the scoreboard. With just over 3 minutes left in the 1st period and a blur of bodies in front of the Erin goaltender Nolan Winter, Owen Sounds' Tanner Kirkwood was able to connect with the puck amongst a maze of sticks and skates and slide one past Winter. But before you could even shift in your seat Noah Lundgren wins the face off and is able to carry the puck and maneuver his away around the Erin defence and make a nice corner shot that eludes Winter giving the Attack a 2 goal advantage.
The 2nd and 3rd periods saw a lot of ice covered and a few good shots taken on Winter and Attack goaltender Hunter Staves but both goaltenders held their own and played their positions well and made some great saves! With just 8 minutes into the 3rd period Geoffrey Webster fights for the puck at the boards and comes out on top and slides it over to Grant Hart who than gives the Attack a solid lead and displays some nice skill when he pops one in on Winter. The 3 goal advantage does not slow down the Attack who continue to skate hard and work together to hold onto the lead against the strong Erin team!!!
Team work was what made this a great game tonight and all the kids were winners out there!!!! WAY TO GO ATTACK!!!
Head Coach Dave Vankooten commended the kids on their passing and excellent work ethic in tonight's game.
