Major Bantams win Rock 'N' Roll Cup
The Gaviller & Co. Maj. Bantams went 4-0 this past weekend in Cleveland and brought home the Championship

The weekend started off Thursday in Detroit as 54 of us boarded an awesome coach bus from the Hampton Inn, Romulus, Michigan and headed off to the Joe Louis Arena and watched Montreal beat Detroit in a very entertaining NHL game. Everyone had a great time and the boys were recognized on the big Jumbo Screen during the 2nd intermission.
Friday was here and we were all off to Cleveland to participate in the Cleveland Rock 'N' Roll Cup Series.

Game 1 saw the boys take on the Cleveland Arrows. Our boys proved to be the much stronger team on this night and handed the Arrows an 8-0 loss in the opening game of the tournament. Nathaniel Dodd had 2, Tayan MacMillan, Andrew Vardy, Matthew Struthers, Jordan Lawrence Noah Rouse and Kurt Long each had 1 goal. Reese Pettigrew got the win and shutout between the pipes.

Game 2 we faced the Hawthorne Peak AA Spring Hockey team based out of Ohio. Again, our boys were a bigger and faster team and handed the Peak AA lads a 5-0 loss. Quinton Maddock, Kurt Long, Brady Brown, Andrew Vardy, Matthew Lyall each had 1goal, with Jack Armstrong taking the win and shutout in net.

Game 3 our boys again faced a USA Spring hockey club, The OHA Hockey Academy. This was a smaller team, but a pretty fast skating club and the game was closer then the final score. Our boys came out on top with another 5-0 win. Quinton Maddock, Tanner Prior, Tayan MacMillan, Andrew Vardy, Nathaniel Dodd all had 1 goal . Reese Pettigrew got the win and his 2nd shutout of the tournament.

The Final game saw the Gaviller crew taking on the Hawthorne Peak AA Spring Team again. This time it was a bit different game, however in the end our boys showed why we were the best team in the tournament. They came out on top 5-2.  Nathaniel Dodd had 2, with Matthew Struthers, Quinton Maddock and Brady Brown each potting singles. Jack Armstrong got the win between the pipes.

It was a fantastic weekend and a great way to finish off a winning season. We finished with a 34-25-5 Record. We were Finalists in our opening Early Bird Tournament, Niagara-on-the-Lake Tournament Champions, Cleveland Rock 'N' Roll Cup Tournament Champions, and probably our biggest achievement of the all, OMHA Semi Finalists.

Just a sensational season of fun, laughter, great memories and of course hockey. Thank you to all the parents for making my job easy. You were a pleasure to work with and I hope to see most if not all of you at the rink next season.

A special thank you goes out to Coach Millman, Saunders and Livingstone. Thank you all for giving up your time and showing your dedication to this team. Best of luck next season and I hope your saying sticks with these boys now and for a long time to come. "Be Better Everyday"

Well boys, best of luck to each of you with your upcoming Tryouts and thank you for allowing me to open and close the door for you this season. The pleasure was all mine.

One last time everyone..

Petti Out...
