Minor PeeWee's Split Weekend Games, Remain in 3rd Place in Tri-County League Standings
The Garb and Gear Source for Sports Minor Peewee’s split their two Tri-County league games this past weekend against Guelph and Halton Hills.

On Saturday afternoon the team travelled to Guelph for a heated battle against the arch-rival Gryphons. In what is quickly becoming an unwelcome consistency, the Attack are seemingly content to play at the level of their opponent; elevating their game against quality opponents, while allowing sub-par teams the dictate the pace and style of play, thoroughly frustrating and baffling the coaching staff. The visitor’s started out well and jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead. However, as is the Gryphons typical never-say-die fashion, they came back with two of their own to tie up the game. The Attack were able to score the go-ahead goal and tried to nurse their one goal lead into the 3rd. It was not to be on this day however, as the home squad tied up the game once again and battled hard, scoring the winner late in the final stanza, skating away with the 4-3 ‘W’ much to the dismay of the Attack fans in the crowd.

Sunday was destined to be a better game as the Halton Hills Thunder rolled into the Bayshore for the noon hour game that would decide who would become the new #3 team in the league. The Attack came out from the opening puck drop with a vengeance, dominating most of the play but unable to generate any sustained pressure in the offensive zone. That would eventually change midway through the first as the newly formed “Shaker” line began what would be a dominating afternoon performance. Sammy Shakes won the offensive zone draw back to D-man and the game’s Hard Hat winner Will Kazarian-Hodder, who quickly relayed it back to an open Shakes. Shakes found winger Travis Morrison open in front of the net and Morrison made no mistake putting the disc up over the goalie on his backhand for the 1-0 lead.

The home side would make it 2-0 on the power play, taking only 4 seconds to convert. Shakes again won the draw back to his D-man, this time it was Nick McAsh who passed it D to D to Zach Foster. Foster’s shot on goal was redirected by Shakes past the tender for the 2-0 marker. The Thunder would cut the lead in half, but that is as close as they would get as the Attack scored 6 unanswered goals, chasing the Thunder goalie after scoring their 5th goal. The Attack now find themselves alone in 3rd place thanks to the dominating 8-1 final score, chasing the Burlington Eagles for the coveted 2nd place position, trailing them by 6pts with 6 games to go. Go Attack Go!!
