The Kunkel Bus Lines Bantam AE’s took 3 of 6 points this week with two road games and a Friday home game at the Bayshore.
The team did some Coyote hunting in Elmvale on Tuesday night but their powder was a little wet to start the game as the Coyotes scored first and often leading 4 to 0 by the midpoint of the first period.

The game tightened up in the second period with both teams trading power plays but no goals were scored.  The powder dried out by the third period as the teams continued to trade power plays. Owen Sound’s guns roared and were right on target bagging 4 Coyotes to tie the game at 4 goals apiece and that’s how it ended.  Owen Sound goals came from Dustin Lantz from Caron and MacMillan, Dustin Lantz from MacMillan, Devin Caron from Lantz and Marks and George Kearney scored assisted by Lantz and McManaman.  If it were not for the slow start the extra point would have been ours.

The team was back on the road to Collingwood to play the Blackhawks on Thursday night at the old Eddie Bush arena, the only arena in Georgian Bay with a Starbucks nearby! Another come-back was not in the cards this night.  The 6 to 0 lead the Blackhawks took into the third period was insurmountable but Goals from Dustin Lantz and Tayan MacMillan took away some of the sting. There was a rumor floating around about Collingwood players being sited at Starbucks ordering Venti Espressos prior to the game.  Investigations are underway;-)

Our rivals from Elmvale returned to Owen Sound on Friday night for the third head to head of the season.  Owen Sound intended to tie the season series with a victory at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Arena.  Obviously the message from the coaches to start strong was taken to heart with two goals in the first period coming from Alex MacNeil from Lantz and Andrew Spitzig from MacNeil and Bummer.  Elmvale was able to tie the game scoring two goals in the second as teams traded pp’s and pk’s.  Goalie Seth Gauthier kept the Coyotes from taking the lead with several key saves throughout the match.  Liam McManaman, who was well rested after standing up for his team mates, unleashed his energy and speed driving hard down the wing scoring an unassisted second effort short-handed goal late in the third period outsmarting those Wiley Coyotes to ice the victory and tie the series.  Well done boys!
