Kunkel Bus Lines Ltd. Bantam AE Open Season
The Kunkel Bus Lines Bantam AE’s opened the 2012 2013 season with a great effort against the Elmvale Coyotes. Fan favorite Garrett Wilson was not in the lineup. Each team showed a willingness to play tough and physical with many big hits being delivered throughout the game.
Brendan Lumley played a very solid game in goal, where both teams spent substantial time killing penalties making at least two breakaway saves late in the third period. Jake Richardson scored during a pile-up in front of the Elmvale goal in the second period assisted by George Kearney with an honorary mention going to Liam McManaman. Dustin Lantz launched a rocket past the Elmvale goalie in the third assisted by Chris “Bummer” Bumstead. Unfortunately Elmvale was able to score one more than our boys as Owen Sound opened the season with a 3 2 loss. The team should be feeling confident, despite the loss, with a solid effort, steady improvement and strong play in the 2nd and 3rd period.
