The
Owen Sound Jr. Attack Crescent Club Major Midgets punched their ticket to the OMHA semi-finals this afternoon at the Brampton Memorial Arena.
Ryan Hamelin and David Vander Ploeg each scored twice and Jerred Kiss turned aside every shot he faced to lead the Crescents to a series clinching 6-0 road victory over the Brampton Jr. Battalion.
Josh Bumstead and John Morris also scored for Owen Sound, who capture the best-of-five quarterfinal series in four games.
Chris Baker (2), Nate Kramer, Lauchlin Elder and Tyler Cunningham contributed the assists.
The Crescents skated to an impressive series opening 8-0 victory at the Owen Sound Coliseum, before taking Game 2 on the road by a much closer 4-2 score.
Back on home ice for Game 3 and looking to close out the series on Friday night, the Crescents suffered their first loss of the postseason by a score of 5-2. Elder scored both Owen Sound goals in the loss, while Hamelin and Brandon Eagles chipped in with the assists.
The Crescents will now face the winner of the Amherstberg-Welland quarterfinal series. Amherstberg leads that best-of-five series 2-0.
