Junior Attack Bantams Jump to 3rd in Tri-County Standings
The Owen Sound Junior Attack Gaviller & Company LLP Major Bantams take 2 out of 3 weekend games to jump from 5th to 3rd in OMHA Tri-County league standings.

Friday night at the Coliseum, the Owen Sound Junior Attack Gaviller & Company LLP Major Bantams began their weeking with a win against rival Guelph Junior Storm with a shutout victory.

After a scoreless first period, Kyle Betts scored a great shorthanded goal early in period 2. Scott Long scored the insurance goal with less than a minute to go in the third period. Luke Aulthouse stood on his head, making several game-saving stops in the shutout win.

Scoring Summary:

1) Kyle Betts (from Dylan Brown)
2) Scott Long (from Nelson Maxwell)

Luke Aulthouse was in goal to record the shutout win.

On Saturday night in Elora , the Junior Attack Bantams were beaten by a hard-working Centre Wellington Fusion squad, in a rough and somewhat one-sided officiating victory by the host squad.  After falling behind early, the Junior Attack regrouped to tie the game at 2 all in the second period, only to fall behind in the third.  The team played over one-third of the game shorthanded.

On Sunday at the Coliseum, against the Hespeler Shamrocks, Ryan Newell had the sniper rifle out as he racked up the natural hat trick plus an extra goal for good measure.  Kyle Betts added a pair in a rough and chippy game where the Junior Attack lost two players to head and upper-body injuries.

With the 4 points this weekend, the Owen Sound Junior Attack Gaviller & Company LLP Major Bantams are just 2 points behind 2nd place Woolwich Wildcats, with whom they play a home and home series against next weekend.  Woolwich has only been defeated by Oakville this season (and Owen Sound is the only team to have beaten Oakville) so the series should be a great one.

Game time in Elmira next Friday is 7:30 PM at Dan Snyder Arena.  The teams are then back in Owen Sound Sunday at 5:00 PM at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre.  Go Attack Go!
