Junior Attack Bantams Finish 2nd at Belleville Shriners Tourney
After an amazing and dominating preliminary round at the Belleville Junior Bulls/Shriners 62nd Annual tourney this past weekend, the Owen Sound Junior Attack Gaviller & Company LLP Major Bantams took on the Belleville Junior Bulls in the championship game, losing 5-2.
The Junior Attack dominated the weekend, winning 14.5 out of a possible 15 points, recording a 3-0 record with 5-1, 5-2 and 5-0 victories over Huntsville, Napanee and Belleville, facing Belleville again in the final.
The Junior Bulls came out strong, determined to avenge their mercy loss to Owen Sound the day before. The Junior Attack pressed right to the very end, but there was just not enough gas left in the tank and the Belleville team was successful in keeping the shots away from their goalie.
In net for Owen Sound, Luke Aulthouse made some incredible saves - including a behind the head, upside down glove save as the puck rolled off the top of the net - but as the Attack pressed, there were a few 3 on 1 and breakaways for Belleville... most of which Luke turned away.

Throughout the weekend, the Owen Junior Attack Gaviller & Company LLP Major Bantams players, coaches and families were complimented by several of the Shriners, Belleville Minor Hockey Association, the tournament convenors and the OHL Belleville Bulls for the team's exemplary behaviour and conduct, sportsmanship, solid team play all weekend and the support of from the coaching staff and Dr. Newell in tending to a seriously injured player during the second game. The team received thanks and an open invitation to return next year.
