Owen Sound Garb & Gear Minor PeeWee Silver Stick Qualifier Results Nov 04-06
Friday Owen Sound Garb & Gear Minor PeeWee Opened the "Silver Stick Qualifier" Tournament with a  4-1 win over the Innisfil Winterhawks.

Owen Sound waited until 33 seconds to go in the second period when #10 Tyler Scott scored to break the silence, assisted by #11 Joe McCorkindale. About half way through the third #11 Joe McCorkindale scored and then #3 Ryan McNeill twenty seconds later.  #12 Keegan MciIlmoyle added another within less than a minute to make it 4-0 assisted by brother #6 Carter McIlmoyle ... a beauty shot from the point.  Owen Sound held that lead thanks to the sharpness of their goaltender #1 Briten Marcell who turned away every shot until there was only 3 minutes to go in the game.
Final Score 4-1 Owen Sound.

Friday afternoon Owen Sound met the St. Thomas Jr. Stars and found a much more organized and speedier opponent than in the previous game against Innisfil.  Owen Sound found themselves unable to hit the scoreboard and were defeated 4-0 by the Jr. Stars.

Saturday afternoon Owen Sound played Centre Wellington Fusion a team which they had played in regular season twice before.  Owen Sound fell behind by three quick goals.  On a power play in the second period with some smooth passing #18 Jacob Lumley scored assisted by #15 Branson Thalen and #2 Josh Hamill. Owen Sound looked like they had sprung back to life until Centre Wellington added another which ended their hopes of advancing to the Semi Finals. Final Score Centre Wellington 6-1.

Over all the Owen Sound Silver Stick Qualifier Tournament was a great success for all divisions participating.

Special Thanks and appreciation to Coach David McNeill for the well organized Tournament from start to finish.

Also thanks to Rick Papke and to the many volunteers who assisted in any way throughout the Tournament.
