Owen Sound Garb & Gear Minor PeeWees Weekend Results Oct 28 - 30
The Owen Sound Garb & Gear Minor PeeWees were in tough this weekend yet battled though all three games with winning confidence.
Friday night Owen Sound traveled to Caledon to play the Hawks, they got off to a slow start when Caledon scored twice in the first period. Into the second Owen Sound fought back to tie the game and had changed the pace as Caledon was not on cruise control any longer. Luckily for Caledon they got one more with just over 1 minute to go in the second period. Owen Sound worked hard for all of the third trying to tie it up. Unfortunately with only 3 minutes to go Caledon closed the door by adding another one. Final Score Caledon 4 -2, Scoring twice for Owen Sound was #2 Josh Hamill assisting the first goal was #11 Joe McCorkindale and #15 Branson Thalen assisted the second goal.
Saturday Owen Sound met the Rangers in Oakville and threatened to give them their first loss of the season. Owen Sound was effective in the first period not letting Oakville score and looked great doing so. Half way through the second Oakville finally broke the silence. Owen Sound did not lie down though and with four minutes to go in the second #18 Jacob Lumley evened the score assisted by #12 Keegan McIlmoyle and #3 Ryan McNeill. Owen Sound really came on strong in the third and held back the Rangers until a minute and a half left to go in the game, they added a couple more to make the final score 4-1 Oakville. In summary the Owen Sound was the better team that afternoon but the non calls from above tended to have a different opinion. Till we meet again.
Sunday Owen Sound played at the Bayshore hosting Centre Wellington. The Owen Sound Garb and Gear were out to prove that they were definitely prepared to take a win this weekend when #8 Nathan Papke scored first assisted by #2 Josh Hamill. Centre Wellington scored with only a half a minute to go in the first to even the score. Center Wellington scored twice more in the second before #8 Nathan Papke scored again assisted by # 9 Caleb Andrews and #2 Josh Hamill. Owen Sound entered the third period down by two goals but was not done yet. #3 Ryan McNeil scored unassisted than #2 Josh Hamill evened the score assisted by #12 Keegan McIlmoyle. If the clock had a few more ticks left Owen Sound surely would have added the winner. Final score Tie 4-4.
In each of the games this weekend Owen Sound's Goalie # 30 Briten Marcell was great making many instrumental saves at key points of the games and the whole team was definitely focused on winning. Thanks for a great weekend!
Owen Sound Garb and Gear PeeWees will host the Owen Sound Silver Stick Qualifier Tournament this coming weekend Nov 4 - 6. Their first game will be against the Innisfil Winterhawks Friday Morning @ 11:00 am.
