Major Peewees split weekend games
Home ice was kind to the team as they scratched out a tough win vs Guelph on Sunday at the Coliseum winning 2 1.  Scouting reports on the Guelph goalie stated “shoot high glove side”.  Alex’s mom made a request to her son prior to the game. “Alex please score a goal for my birthday!”.  Early in the second period Alex MacNeil took a nice pass from Andrew Laverne and gift wrapped a goal for his mama high glove side.  Shortly afterward Noah Rouse made a similar pass to Brady Brown who also went high to the same sweet spot for the team’s second goal.  Ryan Winters closed the deal stopping 34 of 35 shots after the lone Guelph goal was scored on the first shift of the game.  The team will no doubt continue to benefit from Andrew Laverne's return after a month of playing in Europe.

The road, however, was not so kind as the team dropped a squeaker to New Hamburg losing 2 1 on Friday night.  The team’s only goal came after a TSN turning point hit from Noah Rouse who then passed the puck crisply up the ice where Kurt Long snapped a hard shot passed the Hew Hamburg Goalie.  Reese Pettigrew had another strong game in goal making 24 saves on 26 shots.

Coaches’ message to the team after the Sunday victory: “you can’t expect to rely on the goalies to keep you in every game.  More shots please!!!”
