Major Atoms playing Midland for championship
The Owen Sound Leeder and Associates travelled to Midland on St. Patrick's Day for game one of the Championship Georgian Playoff series, best of 3.  Come on down to the Owen Sound Bayshore Community Centre and cheer on these boys to victory Sunday March 18 at 1:30.  After finishing in last place in regular season this team of 10 and some just turned 11 year olds has proven when they are down they are still not out.

After arriving in Midland much to the arena's staff surprise we eventually got a dressing room and Midland parents started to show up so we knew we were indeed going to play today. The Owen Sound squad came out strong and had some geat shots on and around the net but could not bury one. There was no score after the first period. Midland scored early in the second period to start the scoring. Two minutes later one of our defenseman, Drew Vankooten scored a beauty to tie the game assisted by Dominic Millman and Dustin Fleer. The second period ended in a tie at 1. At the eleven minute mark of the third there was a scrum in front of the net and goaltender Brody Caskenette foroze the puck in front of the goal line. After some deliberation between the 2 officials, the closest official said no goal but the older further away official said the puck did go in the net so the score was 2 to 1. This pumped up the Owen Sound boys to keep on working hard. The boys killed off a 5 on 3 advantage for Midland. Despite being on crutches with a sprained ankle 4 days earlier Brody made some amazing saves. Both coaches utilized the time outs to re group and give the hard working players a little rest. With less than 5 minutes left in the game sniper, Jerrid Fossold buried that puck and tied the game at 2 assisted by Colin Kitto and Drew Vankooten. The game ended in a tie and we played a 10 minute overtime period but noone scored. What a team effort, the hardest worker hat went to the entire team for their efforts. Lets go Owen Sound!
