Novice AEs have strong weekend
The Owen Sound QuikLube Junior Attack novice AEs competed hard against a couple of OMHA foes on the weekend.

On Friday night, the Junior Attack travelled to Caledon East for an OMHA playdown game.
Last weekend Owen Sound had dropped a 14-3 decision to Caledon, but played a much better team game and fell 6-0 on Friday.
On Saturday, Owen Sound played Burlington at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre. The last time these two teams met, Burlington came out on top 13-0.
Saturday's game was a different story as the Junior Attack jumped out to a early 2-0 lead. Eric Barnard scored first, assisted by Cole Gowan and Curtis Arnold.
Landen Humphries scored just 30 seconds later when he roofed home a goal. Sam Barrett and Noah Hemstock earned the assists.
Burlington then stormed back with two goals before Barnard scored his second of the game on a beautiful feed from Arnold.
Burlington then scored two goals late in the second to retake the lead.
The Junior Attack poured it on in the third but couldn't net the equalizer. The whole team played strong with crisp passes and backchecking and forechecking hard.
On Saturday night, the novice AEs played their third game in less than 24 hours, this time taking on the Owen Sound Selects novices in an exhibition match.
Cole Gowan led the novice AE offence with three goals and three assists. Barnard had two goals and an assist, while Arnold had a goal and an assist. Noah Hemstock, Jacob Duncan and Devon Long also scored.
Nate Cook, Simon Nair and Carter Garvie scored for the Selects.
Landon Sanford stood tall in goal for the novice AEs in all three games they played on the weekend.
The novice AEs are now off until next weekend when they finish off their OMHA playdown schedule in Orangeville on Saturday.
Owen Sound is in Wasaga Beach on Sunday to start their Georgian Bay league playoffs.
