REP - Peewee AE - Balanced Efforts Brings Early Success!
Submitted By Todd McGregor on Tuesday, October 1, 2019
The Owen Sound Krueger Custom Steel PeeWee AE Team Kicked off their regular season on Sunday Afternoon against the visiting Midland AE Centennials.

After brushing off some preseason lumps, but importantly bringing those lessons with them; the PeeWee AE team came to the rink to play!
The focus of our efforts to this point have been bringing all of our individuals together in this collective group as a team.
A key measure of success is always how quickly our players can come together, gel, blend, balance and Compete.
On Sunday afternoon, our crew did just that!

From the first whistle, this team continued on their learning ways and demonstrated an unbelievable balanced approach to the game. Each and every line contributed with tenacity and a non-stop Attack.

The focus and buy in from this group of kids could not please the coaches more! Their overall determination is phenomenal.

The first 10 minutes of the game saw Owen Sound out-chance their opponent, with several great opportunities not finding the way to the back of the net.  However, this was in no way discouraging for the Krueger PeeWee AE’s.

Without missing a step, all three lines provided relentless fore-check and smothering defence. Just before the half way point in the second period the Attack would strike first on beautiful pass series finding our loan Attacker in front of the net.   However, the AE Centennials, were not going to lay down quietly this day. After several great saves by the Attack Goaltender, the Midland offence would take advantage of a bit of a scramble in the Attack end, and capitalize on our mistake to tie the game just beyond the half way mark.

But this was not going to distract the PeeWee AE Attack!
The continued Teamwork over powered the Centennials, as again the Attack were able to out work through defensive coverage to find a lone Attacker walking out of the corner to beat the waiting Goaltender to take the lead with less than a minute in the second period.

The chances would continue to come for the Owen Sound Team, but the Hockey Gods were going to make them earn each and every goal this day.

Less than two minutes into the third, the AE Centennials would again find their way in front of the Owen Sound net, and were able to capitalize on a lose puck pulled from the net-front scramble to tie this game at 2 a piece.

The AE Centennials were not going to away...

The back and forth battle would continue until just under 5 minutes left in the third, when the Attack would take the Lead for the remainder of the day with a nicely timed shot from the blue line through plenty of traffic.  The Midland tender didn’t have a chance.

The Kreuger Attack were not done…

Just under a minute later, the Attack would again win a battle in the corner and walk out and catch the goal tender unaware.

Tenacity and effort were the game plan for the day, as with just under a minute remaining, a relentless puck control spectacle around the Midland net would reward the Attack winger beating the sprawling Midland goaltender high.

But again, the Attack were not finished.
The never quite attitude of this fun bunch continued to pressure the Centennials, until the Attack were able to send another shot from the Point to the back of the net with just under 4 seconds remaining.

The best aspect of this game was not the two points that the Attack would go on to earn; but the resolve and dedication each and every line showed in this match-up.  From the Stubbornness of each and every Defenceman, to the Focus of our Goaltender, to the amazing Selflessness displayed by each of our Forwards…Each and every individual contributed in BIG ways to collect our first win of the season.
